FRIENDS OF FOLEY UNVEILS NEW LOGO AND NAME CREATED BY ROSKELLY INC.

2008 BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND, July 17, 2008: The volunteer organization, Friends of Foley, recently unveiled a new name and logo to help it spread the word about its mission to support the construction of a new safe and humane animal shelter in Bristol. Now known as "Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter," the organization has embraced a friendly graphic identity that features a cat, dog and rabbit. The logo was created pro-bono by Thomas C. Roskelly, creative director of The Roskelly Group of Portsmouth.

"The new name is self explanatory,"said Board Member Lori Sendroff. "We used to spend too much time explaining who we were. Now we can focus on our mission and the logo is the icebreaker to begin that conversation. It's friendly and approachable. We started rolling it out at the Fourth of July festivities and it's been very well received to date.

"The designer, Thomas Roskelly, is a nationally recognized expert in the field of branding and logo design. His award-winning work has been recently featured in Really Good Logos Explained and American Corporate Identity and he has designed logos for many local, national and international clients, including the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, The Harris Center for Eating Disorders at Mass General Hospital and the Fisheries Minister of Slovenia, among others. On November 11, residents of Bristol will have th opportunity to support a bond issue to build a new 9,000 square-foot municipal shelter on donated land located off of San Francisco Avenue. The new, green building will replace the town's current shelter which is structurally unsound, has no parking, is too small to accommodate current demand from animals and volunteers, and is situated in a spot where it can't be expanded.

The new home of the Bristol Animal Shelter will be auser friendly building that will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will be an essential 9,000 square-foot center financed with a $2 million bond from the Town of Bristol that will include a reception area, safe housing for animals, a quarantine room, and a humane education center. Upon completion, this public resource will also be earmarked as a Federal Emergency Management Agency site; in the event of a disaster, facilities and resources will be available to care for displaced animals.
